The Wizard of the Beltline
About Art on the Beltline
Art on the BeltLine is by far the largest public art exhibition in Atlanta’s history, where over a hundred performing and visual artworks are featured during the months of September and October, turning the 8-mile corridor into an outdoor gallery.
About The Wizard of the BeltLine
I provided creative direction and led production for a performance piece called “The Wizard of the BeltLine,” a multifaceted theatrical performance that depicts the creative journey of the artists and the power of the artist community. This 20-minute performing arts piece, which is a collaboration between a spoken word artist and a dance crew, aims to empower the community by telling their story through artistic expressions. Inspired by the popular musical and film, “Wizard of Oz,” our performance features Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and the Witch, who each represents a different artist that is faced with a unique struggle in their journey. Through their encounters with one another, they discover the power of community – a community that can bring them together and encourage them to support, inspire and challenge each other.
